Get Lost in Adventure & Find Yourself!

Living Earth Teen Expeditions are the perfect blend of deep wilderness immersion, leadership development, team building and personal development. Teens are growing up fast, lets get them immersed in meaningful experiences that build character and get them inspired on being alive! Our expeditions get teens outside immersed in the beautiful world of nature and steeped in something much bigger than themselves.

If you could choose how your teen spends one weekend this season, what would it be?

Is it time to get your teen out of their comfort zone and steeped in the beauty of nature and expanding their horizon?

Come join our talented nature mentors this spring for a journey into the woods and gain experiences that build confidence and competence. Sometimes teens just need a break from the every day to better grow into the brighter parts of themselves.

Many of our LES instructors tell tales from expeditions with Living Earth School that they took as teens. They recall harvesting wild foods trailside, breathtaking views, animal encounters, and the ache and joy of climbing peaks with strangers-turned-friends. Come experience all of these wonderful things, make new friends and memories that will last a lifetime! Backpacking allows us to be more of our genuine selves, and be challenged in a community that embraces hilarity, support and fun!

Learn the In’s and Out’s of Backpacking:

  • Proper gear and how to pack your pack properly
  • Reading maps and navigating the trail
  • Proper low impact backcountry camping etiquette
  • Camp cooking, safe water harvest and setting up a bear bag
  • Rain shelters and tent basics
  • How to work together as a team, while also building independence
  • How to better care for oneself and better communication skills
  • How to thrive in remote backcountry with greater confidence

The first day, we will show them the ropes, and the second day we will give them various leadership roles aimed at testing their communication and bolstering their confidence in the skills we learn, all with experienced mentors there to guide them.

Intro to Backpacking will be 10-15 miles total. This is an excellent trip for any teen who wants to get started backpacking and learn the ropes for themselves. There will be fun around the campfire at night, and general LES awesomeness. Empower your teen, giving them a sense of independence and self-reliance so they can say at the end of the weekend, “We DID it!!”
