Primitive Pottery
April 23 - April 30
By the end of this two-session class, you’ll have turned a handful of dirt you dug out of the ground into a pristine piece of pottery. During the first session, we will explore local riverbanks and dig out some clay, then go over various shaping techniques so that you can make a medium-sized pot. For the second session, you’ll get a chance to fire your pot, bowl, or whatever you choose to make (fine art, maybe?) and transform it using the heat of a campfire into a finished piece of stoneware.
In this class, you will learn:
There are no kilns here, no pottery wheels or any special tools. Just your hands and some dirt. This class should take the mystique out of pottery and make it more approachable for you. The learning curve here is a lot lower than you think, so if you’ve ever been curious about pottery but been scared by the cost of entry, come join us!
