The Living Earth School invites you to our basecamp for a Making Workshop focused on leathercrafting. This will be a wonderful weekend with opportunities to create and fabricate with master maker Peter Yencken.

Workshops with Peter are an opportunity for you to dig deep into a project of your choice. Upon registration you pay for the 1-day workshop filled with making the project of your choice. Item options are listed below. Each item has an additional material fee that you pay on the day of the workshop.

The options!

  • Water bottle holders are extremely practical and an excellent introduction into leatherworking.  Make a custom fitted back and strap so you can always have what you need handy.  After making this you’ll know enough to approach other simple leatherworking projects with confidence.  ($10 materials fee)

  • Like the idea of an intro leatherworking project, but want to carry something other than a water bottle?  A small leather bag is versatile and gives you space to try several stitching techniques.  ($10 materials fee)

  • A school sized leather backpack is a more in depth project for people who’ve got more to carry.  Aside from patterning and basic leatherworking skills you’ll also learn how to design for functionality.  Note this may end up being a two day project for some. ($40 materials fee)

  • For easy access you can also choose to make a leather messenger bag.  Covering many of the same skills as the other leather projects, this is the perfect project for someone who wants a larger bag that’s easy to get things in and out of.  ($40 materials fee)

Best yet, you’ll get to spend time with people working on a range of projects around you.

Upon registration you pay the $90 base price to join for the day and then from there you get to choose which item(s) you wish to make. Each item has an additional material fee that you pay on the day of the workshop.

Please read our COVID-19 Protocols Document HERE before registering.
